Cigarettes, Periodontal Disease and Coronary Artery Disease

Cigarette smoking is a significant risk factor for both coronary artery disease and periodontal (gum) disease.

Those ugly inflamed gums in longstanding smokers is surely related to smoking and cigarette smoking plays an important role in the relationship between periodontal disease and coronary artery disease.
