Printed from DiagnosisHeart.com Article Summary Tofu, Baked by Pierre S. Aoukar, MD Summary:
2 pounds firm or extra-firm tofu, (not silken)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Slice each block of tofu into about 8 slices. Place the slices in a deep dish. For you marinade you can use either the spicy garlic sauce or the dipping sauce. If you are going to use the garlic sauce, I would recommend adding water (equal to half the amount of sauce you will be using) to the sauce since it is fairly thick. Be sure to use enough marinade to cover all the tofu. Marinade for at least 2 hours or overnight.
2. When you are ready to bake, preheat oven to 300˚F.
3. Spray a sheet pan generously with nonstick cooking spray. Place the tofu in a single layer on the pan. Pour the entire marinade into the pan as well. Bake on the lower third rack of the oven until all the marinade has evaporated, the tofu is golden brown in color and firm in texture (it springs back to the touch). Approximate cooking time is one hour.
4. Cool at room temperature. Place in a tight plastic container until needed. Great in stir-fries, Asian salads, sandwiches or just by itself.
