Summary:
Boxing is probably the last topic you would think to find in a book about your heart. In fact, the benefits of the sport of boxing are multifaceted. Boxers are among the fittest athletes of any sport. You only need to watch one of the Rocky movies to see how hard one must train to be a boxer. Furthermore, a boxer’s best chance of dying from a heart attack is in the ring from direct trauma to the chest. While we do not advocate training to become a professional or even amateur boxer, using boxing as exercise can be a lot of fun. Shadow boxing, aerobic boxing, kickboxing are all excellent ways to get your body and heart into shape. You can also taking boxing classes, where with the proper safety equipment and training, you can spar with another trainee. If your objective is not to take out you aggression on others, however, a heavy punching bag, is great way to practice your boxing skills and relieve some aggression. Somewhere along the way, you may even realize that you’ve learned some self-defense.
